Suggested Training & Site Migration Process


Step 1: Train All Administrative Users:
This 3-hour training session will cover all administrative and content management tools in the Content Management System. Users will leave with knowledge on how to manage users and how to begin building the new site. 

Step 2: Train All Division Leaders:
This 3-hour training session will cover all administrative and content management tools in the Content Management System. Users will leave with knowledge on how to manage users and how to begin building their portion of the new site. 

Step 3:  Determine "Go Live" Date:
A date should be determined for which the agency would like to launch their new Web site. 

Step 4: Migrate Content:
Each Administrative User and Division Leader should be assigned a portion of the current Web site to migrate into the content management system. A date should be determined for each user to have their content migrated by. 

Step 5:  Update Migrated Content:
Administrative Users and Division Leaders should update the migrated content to reflect any desired navigational, text or layout changes. A date should be determined for each user to have their migrated content updated by. 

Step 7:  Review Site:
Administrative Users should review the site to determine if it is ready to receive final approval from other administrators or ready to go live. 

Step 8:  Go Live:
Once the site build is completed, the agency should publish the entire site and view their new live site. Contact OK.gov a few days in advance to schedule URL re-directs.

Step 9:  Tell the World About Your New Web Site:
Spread the word about your new Web site by sending out press releases to the media and e-mail notifications to any of your frequent visitors. Contact OK.gov for free marketing assistance. 

Step 10:  Train All Division Editors:
This 2-hour training session will cover all content management tools in the Content Management System. Users will leave with knowledge on how to maintain and update their portion of the new site.

Step 11 & Beyond:  Customer Support:
