PPAT

The PPAT assessment offers a comprehensive picture of a teacher candidate's potential for classroom success.  In addition to measuring a candidate's success, it provides the opportunity to learn and improve one's practice through completion of formative and summative tasks.  The PPAT assessment's design and structure help organize and provide guidance throughout the teaching experience.  It is designed to :

• Allow candidates to demonstrate real-world teaching skills
• Develop a professional plan that supports teacher evaluation protocols
• Allow formative feedback to guide reflective practice
• Embed task in teaching experiences

The required artifacts - including teacher and student work, observation, feedback and an video- provide evidence of a candidate's true teaching ability.

Tasks include:

• Task 1: Knowledge of Students and the Learning Environment
• Task 2: Assessment and Data Collection to Measure and Inform Student Learning
• Task 3: Designing Instruction for Student Learning
• Task 4: Implementing and Analyzing Instruction to Promote Student Learning
