Oklahoma State University Researchers at Oklahoma State University have been involved in the development of wetland assessment tools, in partnership with state agencies. Dr. Andy Dzialowski in the Department of Zoology has the principal investigator for two wetland assessment projects. The first involves the identification of reference wetlands across the state as well as the establishment of biological characteristics of those wetlands. Reference wetlands serve as a benchmark for other wetlands, so deviation from expected conditions can be identified and potentially related to ecosystem impairment. The second project is the development of a desktop wetland assessment protocol to quickly assess wetland condition. For more information on these projects please visit the Dzialowski lab webpage. Dr. Craig Davis in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management has been the principal investigator on numerous wetland projects, including the application of hydrogeomorphic classification to Oklahoma wetlands and development of field based wetland condition assessments. For more information on the wetland research being conducted please visit the Davis lab webpage.
