   Rules COP Student List

Steve Emmons, Director of the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training, announced a public hearing on proposed changes to the agency's rules. Copies of the proposed rules and impact statements may be viewed HERE. Copies of the proposed rules may also be obtained by contacting Norma Floyd at CLEET, (405) 239-5166, or norma.floyd@cleet.state.ok.us.

The public hearing will be held on

Mandatory Training Reminder   Legal Updates

On November 1, 2007, Senate Bill 920 mandated a minimum of six (6) hours of evidence based sexual assault & sexual violence training for every active full-time peace officer by January 1, 2012.

To fulfill this mandate the following two (2) continuing education classes satisfy this requirement:

Evidenced Based Sexual Assault
or
Law Enforcement Response to Sexual Assault

Legal Updates 2013, Revised 26 November 2013

Please note that CLEET was recently notified that the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association and the Oklahoma Insurance Department ‘have agreed that law enforcement should commence seizing (license) tags no sooner than January 1 (2014).’  This change is reflected in the Legal Update 2013 and will be addressed in future legal update classes.

 Firearms Re-qualification Standards Affidavit of Lawful Presence

Beginning on January 26, 2008, all CLEET certified peace officers are required to meet certain firearms re-qualification standards. Officers must attain a qualifying score of not less than seventy percent (70% or 72 points) utilizing their primary duty handgun.
 

Effective November 1, 2007, any license obtained from CLEET must have a signed "Affidavit of Lawful Presence" completed, notarized and submitted to CLEET prior to license issuance.
