Oklahoma COVID-19 Update - Continuing Education Exemption
Beginning with license renewals with an expiration date of January 31, 2021 or later, all licensees renewing their license shall be expected to meet the continuing education requirements as a condition for license renewal. A written request for a hardship exemption may be submitted no later than 15 days prior to the renewal expiration date to khart@pels.ok.gov. Please include your name, license number, and specific information as to why you are unable to fulfill your continuing education requirements. Please provide any documentation you would like to be considered with your request. YOU MAY ONLY SELECT THE HARDSHIP EXEMPTION AT THE TIME OF RENEWAL IF YOUR HARDSHIP REQUEST HAS BEEN APPROVED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION DATE OF YOUR LICENSE.
NOTE: Many online and virtual activities are readily available that comply with the Board's continuing education requirements. Stating that your usual means for obtaining continuing education credits is no longer available to you shall not be considered a hardship and does not qualify you for an exemption of your professional development hours.

Initial License Application Process Revised
Effective November 1, 2020, applicants for initial licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors are NOT required to file an application with the Board office until such time as they have completed all eduction, examination and experience requirements. Refer to the PLS Application link to determine if you are qualifed for future PLS licensure in Oklahoma.
PLS Continuing Education - Minimum Standards Requirement
Per OAC 245:15-11-5(c), A Professional Land Surveyor or a dual licensee must earn at least two PDH's covering the Oklahoma Minimum Standards per renewal period. Click here to access classes offered through the OSLS online education portal. PDH's covering the Oklahoma Minimum Standards for the Practice of Land Surveying will also be offered at the OSLS Convention, which was rescheduled to September 9-11, 2021.
