The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board is a constitutional, part-time board comprised of five members. Members of the Board are appointed, three by the Governor, one by the Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court, and one by the presiding Judge of the Court Criminal Appeals. Board members hold office co-terminous with the Governor and can be re-appointed. If vacancies occur, the appointing authority selects a replacement member before the term expires. Board members are removable only for cause in the manner provided by law for elected officers not liable for impeachment. The Board convenes on a predetermined date at the Kate Barnard Community Correctional Center, Ted R. Logan Conference Center, located at 3300 North Martin Luther King Avenue in Oklahoma City. The positions of chairperson and vice chairperson are elected by majority vote of the Board.
The Board is vested with the following statutory and constitutional powers:
• Granting or denying paroles
• Revoking, modifying, or rehearing paroles
• Making recommendations for paroles, revocations, pardons and commutations to the Governor
