Speakers Bureau

Commissioners and Advisory Council members are skilled leaders who have spoken during various formats such as keynote, panel discussion, workshops, M.C., and lectures. We are available to speak at regular and special meetings of civic groups, service organizations, neighborhood associations, church groups, and other types of clubs and businesses. Our service is free; however, we accept donations.


Brenda Jones Barwick

Ms. Barwick is a strong national advocate for women in business, and in 2001 founded the national integrated communications agency, Jones PR. She has developed and implemented a national marketing campaign for the nation's largest women's business group, Women.

Pat Carr

Ms. Carr is the author of an inspirational & motivational book, “All Dreams Matter.” She has mentored women of all ages in business for over 30 years. As a successful business owner and entrepreneur, she is a home builder, decorator, image consultant, and motivational speaker.

Suzette Chang

Ms. Chang is the Founder/CEO of Thick Descriptions and the Executive Director of the Guthrie Public Library. For almost two decades she has attained African American female histories and understandings of identity, social constructs, and how these influences impact their daily lives and are linked to women with different historical experiences.

Carol Hefner

Ms. Hefner is the president of HELM Investments LLC,  and vice president of Cedars Commercial Real Estate and Development Company. She is president of Galimaro Food Development LLC and is founder of the Aliya Hefner Pediatric Fellowship at OU Children’s Hospital.

Estela Hernandez

Dr. Nyla Khan

Dr. Khan is a member of the Oklahoma Governor’s International Team. She has presented lectures on various subjects at several universities around the United States. Mary Larson

Mary A. Larson, PhD, is the Associate Dean for Distinctive Collections at the Oklahoma State University Libraries, and she is a past president of the Oral History Association (US). One of her relevant areas of research has been gender bias in the interpretation and representation of the historic record. She is a past Commissioner for the OCSW and has also been appointed to multiple terms as a member of the Oklahoma Historical Records Advisory Board.
