The office of County Clerk is a Constitutional office. The duties of the County Clerk are governed by Oklahoma Statutes which include record-keeping for the County, financial administration, and secretarial duties to various boards and commissions.
"A popular Government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a tragedy; or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives."--James Madison

If you have recently lost a property in the Treasurer's Tax Sale, you may have additional monies owed to you which are termed "excess resale" funds. If you are contacted by a company or individual indicating that only they can get your money for you, THIS IS A SCAM. You can contact the Treasurer's office directly and file a claim for those funds. Anyone who is offering to obtain this money for you for a cut of the proceeds is taking advantage of you unethically.
There is a mailer going out to individuals who have had a tax lien filed against their property which indicates that a levy or lawsuit may be filed without immediate payment. The amount which this notice indicates is owed is many times the actual amount of the lien. Please know this notification is NOT from the State of Oklahoma. (A copy of the notice can be seen here.) If you have questions about liens, please contact this office and we can help you with accurate information.
If you have received a notification from Conveyance Transfer Services, please be aware that this is a scam. (A copy of the letter can be seen here.) The letter sent indicates you need a copy of your deed and asks you to send $86.00 to obtain one. Our office offers certified copies of your documents for $2.00 per page. Please do not send anything to this company. Let us provide your documents for you.
