The Custer County Sheriff’s Department has requested OSBI investigate a police-involved shooting involving two deputies Saturday evening. The sheriff’s office received two 911 calls Saturday evening before 7 o’clock regarding a domestic dispute inside a home at 10354 North 2200 Road just outside Clinton. The last emergency call alerted law enforcement that an 18-year-old man had two knives. Deputies entered the home and eventually fired their weapons, killing Mah-Hi-Vist Goodblanket. One deputy was injured during the shooting.
Several OSBI agents arrived on the scene to collect information and evidence. Agents will include in a written report all the facts gleaned from the investigation for the district attorney to review. The district attorney will determine whether the shooting was justified.
As always, the OSBI will not release the names of the deputies since they are the subjects of this investigation. The deputies are on routine, paid administrative leave.
