Agents Help Investigate Adair County Homicide

Just before 7 o’clock this morning (2/8/12), the Adair County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a motorist about a body lying on the side of Fog Hollow Road just south of Bethel Road -- 2 1/2 miles from Stilwell. Deputies arrived on the scene and found Stilwell resident Steven Buckner (d.o.b. 1-21-88) dead. Obvious signs of trauma to his body led deputies to consider Buckner’s death a homicide. The sheriff’s office called in OSBI to assist with the investigation.

After several hours of investigating, OSBI agents, sheriff’s deputies, and Stilwell Police Officers identified three suspects. Michael Wolfe (d.o.b. 12-8-88) and Carlos Locust (d.o.b. 2-1-88) were arrested at a trailer home they shared at the Sierra Estates Trailer Park on Section Line Road near Highway 100. Dion Gonzales (d.o.b. 2-7-77) was arrested outside a home at 17929 W. Grandview Road in Tahlequah. All three suspects were arrested about noon and have been booked in to the Adair County Jail for first degree murder.

The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine Buckner’s cause and manner of death.
