OSBI Investigates Double Shooting in Hinton
The Caddo County District Attorney’s Office requested OSBI investigate a shooting that occurred Monday evening in Hinton.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., a neighbor called the Hinton Police Department reporting that shots had been fired at 612 N. Stanley. A Hinton officer arrived and made contact with a male subject at the residence. The man demanded the officer leave. The officer backed away from the home and called for backup. Among the law enforcement who responded to the call for backup was a Caddo County Deputy who had a retired deputy riding with him. Those two pulled up to the area and got out of the patrol car. The subject approached the deputy with a gun in his hand in the area of Elm and N. Stanley. The subject told the deputy he would not harm any officers, but he was going to kill himself. The deputy pulled out his baton and knocked the handgun out of the subject’s hand. The gun landed on the ground. The subject, the deputy, and the retired deputy all tried to get the gun. The subject landed on the gun, grabbed it, and fired one shot into his stomach. The bullet from that .40 Glock went through the subject and hit the retired deputy in the abdominal area. Both men were taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center.
Last night OSBI agents documented the scene, collected items of possible evidence, and interviewed numerous people. Interviews will continue today.
Since the subject has not been arrested, the OSBI will not release his name or the retired deputy’s name.
