Hugo Man Charged with Murder of 76-year-old Woman
First degree murder charges have been filed in the murder of 76-year-old Willie Bell Gill of Hugo. Gill was found stabbed to death inside her rural home Thursday, June 16th. The medical examiner’s office believes she was murdered either late Monday, June 13, or early Tuesday, June 14. Her car was found abandoned and burned Wednesday, June 15th, near Bokchito.
Early in the investigation, a warrant for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon was issued for Kelvin Knight (d.o.b. 12/21/84) of Hugo for assaulting his girlfriend. The U.S. Marshals arrested Knight at an Oklahoma City motel early Saturday morning.
Evidence and information collected during the investigation led investigators to Knight as the suspect. Knight was seen with items believed stolen from Gill’s home. A witness saw him driving Gill’s car. And earlier this week, an OSBI latent print examiner matched a palm print to Knight found at a point of entry into Gill’s home.
A felony warrant for first degree murder was filed Tuesday, June 21, on Kelvin Knight. He is booked into the Choctaw County Jail.
