OSBI Investigates Logan County Shooting Death
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI’s help in a shooting death at 8100 Hill Top Lane. Elmer Cronister (dob 12-29-85) was shot one time in the head with a handgun inside his home about midnight. Several people were inside the home when it occurred, but left the residence.
OSBI and sheriff’s deputies spent the night locating and interviewing the witnesses. Agents were also searching for a person of interest, Robert John Schleve.
At daybreak, the OSBI airplane was flying in the area near the victim’s home searching for Schleve. Schleve also spotted the plane and tried to run. The OSBI pilot directed agents to Schleve. Within minutes, agents apprehended Schleve on several outstanding warrants from Logan County. He has not been arrested for the shooting death. He is currently at the Logan County Jail. A gun was located during a morning search of land near the home.
Cronister’s body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. OSBI will gather all the information from witnesses, the person of interest, the crime scene, and the medical examiner’s report and present it to the district attorney who will decide what, if any, charges will be filed and against whom.
