The OSBI Criminalistics Services Division (CSD) quality system is designed around the accreditation requirements of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB). The ASCLD/LAB - International accreditation program is built around requirements from two documents – ISO/IEC 17025 (an internationally developed standard which contains general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) and the ASCLD/LAB Supplemental Requirements for the Accreditation of Forensic Science Testing Laboratories.
On April 22, 2016, ASCLD/LAB announced a merger between ASCLD/LAB and the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Following the merger, ASCLD/LAB will continue to provide accreditation to forensic science laboratories as a division within ANAB. The merger does not affect the status of accreditations previously granted by ASCLD/LAB and ASCLD/LAB will continue to monitor accredited laboratories’ performance through surveillance visits and off-site record reviews in accordance with accreditation program policies.
