Steven Spielberg film "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara”
EDGARDO — BOY age 6-9 to play 6. This is a unique & very challenging part for a truly special boy. The story deals w/the complexity of an extremely intelligent & gifted child's situation – his desire to return to his family & the faith of his ancestors, pitted against his ability to learn the Catechism & engage w/the Pope on a level far beyond his years. He should appear to be a Jewish Italian child. We are not looking for any kind of Italian accent. LEAD.
STORY LINE — Steven Spielberg is making a film about the true story of EDGARDO MORTARA - a 6 year old Jewish boy from Bologna who was reported to have been secretly baptized by a maid & was deemed by the Catholic church therefore to be Christian. Pope Pius IX (to be played by Mark Rylance) decreed that the boy could not remain w/his Jewish family. He was seized by the Papal State & taken to the Vatican where his indoctrination into Catholicism began. This was a cause célèbre of mid-nineteenth century European politics & the domestic & international outrage against the pontifical state's actions may have contributed to its downfall amid the unification of Italy. This is an incredible story of real historical relevance.

Young Mom (17-19 years old)
A new role has been created in the western feature film THE MUSTANGER AND THE LADY, now filming in Oklahoma. The 1890s western began filming over the weekend in locations in Guthrie and Oklahoma City, OK.
The featured extra role is a "Young Mom", a very thin, Caucasian female, aged 17-20. She plays the teenage mom of Young Julie, seen in important flashbacks in the film. Pay for the role is $58/day
Extras will be paid a minimum of $58 for 8 hours of work (even if they are needed for less time on set). Anything over 8 hours will incur overtime. Since this is a period piece set in the 1890s wild west, all extras must attend a wardrobe fitting in either Oklahoma City or Guthrie prior to their appearance in the film. Extras with their own 1890s-style clothing can be exempt from fittings if their clothing is approved by the wardrobe department.
Wardrobe fittings will take typically less than 30 minutes. There is no pay for wardrobe fittings.
While it is not required, men with facial hair, and especially long and unusual facial hair, are encouraged to submit for consideration.
