Seat belts save lives! Seat belt use is the single most effective way to prevent serious injuries and save people from dying in car crashes. In 2015, 260 people who weren't buckled up lost their lives in traffic crashes in our state. 104 of those people who died were totally ejected from the vehicle. Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and our partners statewide work to educate the public about Oklahoma seat belt laws and the importance of wearing seat belts every trip, every time.
Oklahoma Seat Belt Usage 2015
The 2015 statewide survey of safety belt use in Oklahoma was conducted in 19 counties at 299 observation sites during the month of June. The 2015 survey was the fourth year that Oklahoma used the new sampling procedures which were enacted to comply with rule changes made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
