Who is required to be medically qualified (medical card) to operate a CMV in Interstate and Intrastate commerce?

  • ALL drivers that are required to have a CDL, Class A, B or C must be medically qualified to operate a CM
  • Interstate drivers: are required to present the medical card to the Department of Public Safety when getting or renewing a CDL 
  • Intrastate drivers: are not required to present the medical card BUT will get a "K" restriction on the CDL. These drivers are still required to have a valid medical card on their person to drive.
