Tenant Requirements

Tenants receiving Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers are obligated to:

• Live up to the terms of the lease.
• Work with the landlord to keep the unit healthy and safe.
• Cooperate with the owner by informing him or her of any necessary repairs.
• Cooperate with OHFA for all inspections and appointments.

Housing Quality Standards

Housing units approved under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program must meet all Housing Quality Standards (HQS) which define "standard housing" and establish the minimum criteria for the health and safety of program participants.

Portability / Transferring Your Assistance

Proof of residency for at least one year in Oklahoma is required when requesting to transfer your voucher from Oklahoma to another state. Other requirements apply.
