Lyn Hester was appointed to the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women by Governor Brad Henry in 2007. She has served as the Public Relations Chair since her appointment to the commission and currently serves as Vice-Chair. Hester is currently the System Vice President of Marketing and Community Services for INTEGRIS Health.
Active in the community Hester serves on numerous boards including the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, the Tree Bank Foundation of Oklahoma and the International Center for Humor and Health which she founded in 1988. Hester speaks around the country on the benefits of humor in addition to writing a monthly humor column. She also holds a fellowship in the International Healthy Communities forum.
She has written several children’s books including Mary Lou Likes Blue, a fairytale on prejudice, Stop, Drop and Roll, book and original song written in conjunction with the Learn Not to Burn Series of the Oklahoma City Fire Department and Take Two Chuckles and Call Me in the Morning, humorous stories on learning to laugh at life.
Lyn is married to her best friend, Jim and they have one wonderful son, Matt, a lovely daughter in law, Heather and a perfect granddaughter, Tatum.
