Joyce Horton Sanders
Joyce Horton Sanders was appointed to the Oklahoma Commission on the status of Women in 2009. While new to the commission as a formal member, she has volunteered with each Women's Summit the Commission has put on since 2003. She was also very active on the Summit Planning Committee for the 2006 and 2008 Summits.
Sanders serves as Executive Assistant to Governor Brad Henry, and a member of Senior Staff. She has worked with Governor Henry for the past 13 years, including eight years in the Oklahoma State Senate. Over the past 40 years, her career has spanned the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial areas of state government and even Higher Education. Sanders has a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated magna cum laude.
Other organizations of which Sanders participates includes Executive Women International (EWI), and Afterschool Network Leadership Team, and Band Parent Association in Chickasha as Secretary. She served on the Office Administration Advisory Committee for Oklahoma City Community College since 1996, and has served on the International Association of Administrative Professionals as both President of OKC Chapter and won Member of the Year and Secretary of the Year for the organization.
