Chris Morriss

In her professional role, Ms. Morriss is the Director of the International Relations and Services Division in the Office of the Oklahoma Secretary of State.  In that capacity, she also serves as the State’s Chief of Protocol.

She is the primary point of contact for the State of Oklahoma for the U.S. State Department, the Houston, Chicago, New York and Oklahoma Consular Corps.

Morriss is responsible for facilitating meetings; providing country specific background and protocol briefings for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, elected officials, cabinet secretaries, agency directors and other entities who might be receiving high level foreign diplomats; and maintaining records documenting those visits.

Ms. Morriss is also responsible for the State of Oklahoma Sister State agreements with Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, Gansu Province, China and Taiwan Province, Taiwan.

She began her assignment in 2005 under Secretary of State, M. Susan Savage.  Since then, the state has received more than 150 visits (which include presidents, ministers, ambassadors, and consular officers, etc.) from 40 countries worldwide.

Morriss earned her Protocol Officer certification in 2008 from the internationally renowned Protocol School of Washington and is a member of the Protocol and Diplomacy International-Protocol Officers Association.

She has lived in the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Sicily and has visited London, southern region of Spain, the Amalfi Coast of Italy, Taiwan, and Kyoto, Japan.
