Since its founding in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA has offered girls an unrivaled opportunity to develop strong values and contribute to society as a leader, thinker and responsible citizen. Today, Girl Scouts remains a highly regarded organization and we are taking great strides in becoming a leading voice and steadfast advocate for and with girls. Troop 1912 is a nonpartisan Honorary Girl Scout Troop for women who are inspiring role models and have a voice that shapes the communities in which our girls live and thrive in Oklahoma. The primary goal of this group is to recognize the importance of having a voice for girls and advocating on their behalf on issues that affect them both at the statewide level as well as within our communities. The troop membership is a partnership of the OCSW and is composed of all women in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The OCSW partnered with the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 for the Girls Day of Discovery at the Oklahoma History Center. Girls learned how women, past and present, have positively changed Oklahoma with their business skills and innovative ideas. Girls from across Oklahoma gathered for a day of activities that highlighted innovation, Oklahoma history, and important women who have made an impact in our state. This event provided an opportunity for girls to discover passions and interests, develop new ideas, and interact with elected officials and female business leaders from the community.
