Board Member Information
Susan C. McHugh, M.ED., CCC-SLP
Susan McHugh is currently employed by Edmond Public Schools as the Coordinator and Consultant for the school district’s staff of 39 Speech/Language Pathologists. She has enjoyed a 26 year career in a variety of school settings working with students, families and faculties. Over the years, she has also contracted in adult rehabilitation settings and served private clients. In addition, she has been active in Oklahoma Speech Language Hearing Association serving as president and currently Membership Co-Chair. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Oklahoma and her Master of Education in Speech/Language Pathology from Central State University.

William Livermon is our new Lay member for the Board. He is replacing Kristin Hopper. Mr. Livermon's term expires August 17, 2017. William Livermon is a retired Property & Casualty Insurance Agent of forty-five years. He was the past Chairman of Independent Insurance Agents Association of Oklahoma and served on several other non-profit and community service boards through the years. He graduated from Central State College in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Merrilyn, a retired attorney.
Mona Ryan, M.S., CCC-SLP
Mona Ryan is our new Speech-Language Pathologist for the Board. She is replacing Tracy Grammer. Mrs. Ryan's term expires August 17, 2018. Mona Ryan worked in the public schools as a speech language pathologist from 1985-2004. She has worked with preschool, elementary, and middle school students in the Oklahoma City, Western Heights and Edmond districts. She served as the Director of Speech-Language Hearing Services for the Oklahoma State Department of Education in 2004. She currently is a Clinical Educator and Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center – John W. Keys Speech and Hearing Center. She supervises clinical practicum for evaluations and treatment for graduate students. She was instrumental in launching the first teletherapy project for OUHSC – CSD and has coordinated the project for now on the fourth year. She also teaches some undergraduate coursework. Mona also served as the university committee members on public school SLP residency committees for OUHSC graduates and now continues as the program’s representative on the Education Professions Division Council. Mona also teaches as adjunct faculty in the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program at the Oklahoma City Community College. She was instrumental in the development of this program.
Mona received her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University and her masters’ degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She was the first ASHA State Education Advocacy Leader for Oklahoma from 1999-2003 and OSHA’s Schools Committee Chairperson. She served as the Governmental Relations chair for OSHA for eleven years from 2003-2015. She served as an ASHA LC member in 2008. She has reviewed posters for the ASHA Schools Conference several times, as well as served as a table facilitator at the Schools Forum. She served as OSHA president in 2006. She was actively involved in the pursuance of the “Student and Professional Investment Initiative” or the salary equity legislation speech-language pathologists, audiologists and school psychologists with national certification and currently for obtaining bonus for SLPs left out of recent bonuses. She also was an ASHA cadre trainer for IDEA. She served on the Continuing Education Board for ASHA in 2011-2014. She now is serving as a site visitor for the Council for Academic Accreditation.
In 2004, Mona received the OSHA Honors of the Association. She was selected to participate in the 2008 ASHA Leadership Development Program. Mona recently was named the 2009 OSU CDIS Outstanding Alumnae. She was named a “Fellow of the Association” for the American Speech Language Hearing Association in 2011. She received the ASHFoundation State Clinical Achievement Award in 2014.
