Cleveland County Health Department – Food Vendor Issues

The Cleveland County Health Department reports numerous food vendors have set up in the Moore area to offer free food or food for purchase for residents, volunteers and officials working the areas of devastation.

“While we appreciate that folks just want to help and provide food to residents and those assisting with the response, we are finding multiple food safety hazards,” said K.C. Ely, director, Consumer Health Service of the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Ely noted a check of several vendors found no hand wash, water, screening, overhead protection, or basic food safety requirements.

“We ask these vendors to check with the Norman branch of the Cleveland County Health Department at 250 12th Ave N.E. in Norman, phone 321-4048, for the process necessary to assure they can proceed with their operations,” Ely said.
