Update -- Winter Storm Injury Statistics

Winter storm-related injuries reported at hospitals throughout Oklahoma as a result of the most recent storm now total more than 571, the Oklahoma State Department of Health announced today. Of that number, 389 injuries were attributed to falls.

For Thursday alone, 331 injuries were reported with 215 of those recorded as falls.  The significant increase was attributed to large numbers of Oklahomans returning to work.

Health officials encourage continued vigilance as dangers remain from the winter storm including the risk of slipping on small patches of ice, and ice and snow falling from thawing roofs.
