_____ County Health Department to Participate in Statewide Emergency Preparedness Exercise April 25-29

The _____ County Health Department will play a key role in a statewide exercise designed to test Oklahoma’s all-hazards Emergency Response Plan.  The exercise will occur the week of April 25-29, 2011.

“This exercise will provide our staff the opportunity to identify the strengths and weaknesses of our emergency preparedness planning efforts,” said _____, administrative director for the _____ County Health Department.  “We are also pleased to have local partners participating in this exercise which will help us improve our coordination efforts and alert us to any areas we need to improve.”

The exercise, named “Operation Raindrops,” will test response partners’ ability to work to recover from a disaster, evaluate the ability of the county health department to deliver medications, and assess local, state and federal coordination. A key component of the exercise will be demonstrating the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s ability to receive and distribute emergency supplies from the Strategic National Stockpile.  The Strategic National Stockpile can deliver medicine, vaccine and antidotes within 12 hours.

Local partners assisting in the exercise with the _____ County Health Department include the following: (insert local partners). Statewide partners include military bases, state agencies, medical facilities and tribal organizations.

While this exercise will not require public involvement, citizens may see events such as escorted transportation during the exercise.
