Oklahoma State Board of Health Elects New Officers

The Oklahoma State Board of Health elected new officers for 2010-2011 during a regular meeting of the Board yesterday in Lawton. Dr. Jenny Alexopulos was elected President, Dr. R. Murali Krishna was elected Vice President, and Cris Hart-Wolfe was elected Secretary-Treasurer.

Alexopulos is Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Senior Associate Dean, and Professor of Family Medicine with Oklahoma State University - Center for Health Sciences. She was appointed to the Board in 2005. Alexopulos represents Ottawa, Delaware, Craig, Mayes, Nowata, Rogers, Washington, Tulsa, Pawnee, and Osage counties.

Krishna is President and Chief Operating Officer of INTEGRIS Mental Health. He was appointed to the Board in 2008. Krishna represents Logan, Oklahoma, Cleveland, McClain, Garvin, Murray and Payne counties.

Hart-Wolfe is Director of Human Performance Centers in Clinton and is a board-certified orthopedic specialist. She was appointed to the Board in 2007 and represents Ellis, Dewey, Custer, Roger Mills, Beckham, Washita, Kiowa, Greer, Jackson, Harmon, and Tillman counties.

The Board recognized outgoing member Dr. Ann Warn, Lawton ophthalmologist, whose term ends this month. During her nine years of service, Warn helped shape important public health improvements for Oklahoma. She will be replaced on the Board by Dr. Ronald Woodson, a cardiologist from Lawton.

The Board also recognized Barry Smith, outgoing President, for his three terms of service as Board President from 2007-2010.

The Oklahoma State Board of Health has nine members appointed by the governor with senate confirmation.
