Speaker to Discuss Legislation Affecting Aging Issues

A report on legislative issues important to the aging population and a summary report about Oklahoma’s last legislative session will be discussed at the Oklahoma Arthritis Network (OAN) meeting to be held on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), 1000 N.E. 10th Street, Room 314, Oklahoma City. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker, Sean Voskuhl, is the associate state director for advocacy for AARP Oklahoma. Voskuhl has been with the AARP for five years and prior to that he was a state representative from House District 41 from 1990 until 1998. His topic will be “The Oklahoma Aging Partnership Legislative Report and a Legislative Session Overview”.

In addition, the OAN will be requesting public comments as they update the Oklahoma Arthritis Action Plan. Visit www.health.ok.gov/program/apep to review this plan, or provide your comments in writing when you attend this meeting.

The OAN features various speakers and presentations for the public to help maximize the quality of life for Oklahomans with arthritis and related health conditions through developing resources, promoting access to health care and offering public health education programs. Currently, there are about 100 public and private health and non-health related organizations in the OAN.

OAN meeting videoconferencing is available through some county health departments.
