“Families Matter” Conference Scheduled April 25

In these turbulent times, families do matter - more than ever - and that will be the focus of the Families Matter Conference, scheduled for Friday, April 25, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 NW 15th Street, in Oklahoma City.

Designed for professionals who deal with family relationships, the one-day conference will present a variety of breakout sessions on issues including child care and development, parent education, discipline, child abuse and neglect, and marriage and family.

Featured speaker will be Dr. Stephen Nowicki Jr., a two-time Fulbright Scholar and currently professor at Emory University, whose 32-year career has focused on teaching and research in clinical psychology. He will present “Children on the Social Fringes, Reaching Out Before It’s Too late.”

The conference is sponsored by the Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition, the Oklahoma State Department of Education - Parents as Teachers project, the Oklahoma State Department of Health - Child Abuse Prevention Service, the Family Health Coalition, and Tulsa Healthy Start.

The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. on April 25. Admittance is by pre-registration or registration at the door. For more information, contact the Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition at 405/810-0631.
