State Board of Health Announces Search for New State Health Commissioner

The Oklahoma State Board of Health today announced it has formed a Search Committee for the selection of a new State Commissioner of Health, to replace Dr. Leslie Beitsch, who has resigned the position effective Oct. 25.

Search Committee Chairman Dr. Gordon Deckert said the Board will accept applications for the position through Friday, Oct. 31.

Candidates must meet state statutory requirements for the position, which includes an MD or DO degree, a PhD in public health, or a master’s of science degree in public health, with five years experience.

“It is the intent of the Board of Health that this process will be conducted with dispatch and in a manner that facilitates the success of our next Commissioner,” said Deckert.

Interested candidates should submit their applications to the Board to the attention of Kay Hulin, Secretary to the Board of Health, Oklahoma State Department of Health, 1000 Northeast Tenth Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73117.
