Area Dietetic Student Wins Award

Amanda Spitzer, a senior dietetics major at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Tulsa Cascia Hall graduate, has won the student division of the 2nd Annual Laura K. Savage “Creativity in Nutrition Education” award.

Spitzer was honored for her creative nutrition education submission “Facts About Folate” at the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutritionist State Conference held Feb. 13-14 in Oklahoma City. Spitzer won the award named for Laura K. Savage, a state health department Nutrition Education Coordinator, who was killed in a car crash in June 2001.

In addition to her award, Spitzer won her registration to attend the Oklahoma Dietetic Association’s annual conference. She will graduate from the OU Health Sciences Center this spring. Amanda is the daughter of Weldon and Belynda Spitzer of Tulsa.
