Area Nutritionist Wins Award

Diane Sublett, a nutritionist with the Blaine, Major and Woodward county health departments, has won the first annual Laura K. Savage Creativity in Nutrition Education Award. Sublett received the honor during the recent Oklahoma State Department of Health’s (OSDH) WIC Nutritionist State Conference.

Sublett’s creative nutrition submission won the award in a competition of entries from across the state of Oklahoma.

The award is named for Laura K. Savage, a Nutrition Education Coordinator with the OSDH, who died in a car crash in June 2001. The creative spirit of Ms. Savage was evident in the nutrition education ideas presented at the conference.

In addition to winning the award, Sublett will travel to the National WIC Association’s Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., in May. She will display her winning entry, “Have Fun With WIC Foods,” to be viewed by nutritionists nationwide.
