State of the State's Health Report Now Online

The just released 5th annual report of the State of the State's Health can now be accessed via the World Wide Web at www.health.state.ok.us/board/state.

The Oklahoma State Board of Health has issued the report each year since 1997.

The year 2001 report examines health data trends for Oklahomans and focuses on several solution options to many of our state's major health issues. Simple, effective and relatively inexpensive prevention approaches, as compared to treatment options, are highlighted in the report.

Of particular interest are “State and County Health Status Indicator Profiles” available online at www.health.state.ok.us/board/state/profiles. Individuals can visit this section to see how their county compares to state and national rates on health status indicators such as demographics, communicable diseases, top cause of death, reproductive health indicators, and injury indicators. Individuals can also visit the “Leading Causes of Death and Premature Death” at www.health.state.ok.us/program/CHS/TopCauses/ to view the top causes of death and premature death by choice of age, race and sex for a particular county or for the entire state.
