Immunization

The Beckham County Health Department offers immunizations during normal business hours: Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Clients who make appointments will have priority.  Walk-ins will be seen based on staff availability.  In order to better serve you, please call to check service availability - (580) 225-1173 for Elk City or (580) 928-5551 for Sayre.

*Insurance Announcement*
Beginning on July 10, 2014, Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) began accepting private insurance for payment of adult and child immunizations.  Please present a copy of your photo ID and current insurance card at check-in.  A claim will be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement, and you will be notified with a statement from OSDH of your responsibility for any co-pays, deductibles, or charges that are denied by your insurance company.  Some sliding scale fees may apply.  Payment is not required for services.  Please do not allow your inability to pay restrict future visits.

Childhood Immunizations

If your child has private insurance, a claim may be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.  You will be notified with a statement from OSDH of your responsibility for any co-pays, deductibles or charges that are denied by your insurance company.  Please review your insurance coverage prior to your visit.  Payment is not required for services.  Please do not allow your inability to pay restrict future visits.  The Beckham County Health Department does not charge a fee for Vaccines for Children (VFC) eligible children through the age of 18.   (Vaccines for Children Information & Requirements)

The following immunizations are usually available for children through the age of 18 if we have the vaccine:

  • DTap, TDaP and TD (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis; tetanus and diphtheria)
  • Flu
  • Haemophilus Influenza (Hib)
  • Hepatitis A and B
  • HPV (human papilloma virus)
  • Meningitis
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13)
  • Polio
  • Rotavirus
  • Varicella (chickenpox)

What should I bring to an immunization visit?

When coming in for immunizations, be sure to bring the following:

  • Parent's ID
  • Current copy of the shot record.  This makes it easier for our staff to see which shots you need, and it also helps decrease your waiting time.
  • Child's Social Security number.
  • Sooner Care number, if applicable.
  • If you are accompanying a minor other than your own, please make sure to have a letter of authorization or guardianship. This allows our staff to give shots to that individual.

How can I get copies of my child’s shot records?

Adult Immunization Services

The Beckham County Health Department provides adult immunizations to insured and non-insured individuals.  Based on federal grants, age restrictions, insurance, sliding scale fees, etc., charges may be applied.  Please call us at (580) 225-1173 for Elk City or (580) 928-5551 for Sayre with questions.

The following adult immunizations are usually available:

  • Flu
  • Hepatitis A (series of 2 doses) Based on availability
  • Hepatitis B (series of 3 doses) Based on availability
  • Twinrix (combination Hepatitis A & B, series of 3 doses) Based on availability
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • TDaP and TD (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis; tetanus and diphtheria)
  • Varicella (chicken pox vaccine)
  • Gardasil (HPV vaccine, series of 3 doses)
  • Meningitis
  • Pneumococcal Disease
  • Zostavax (shingles vaccine)
