Q: How many hours of CE do I need?
A: Per 235: 10-13-10 of the Oklahoma Funeral Board Rules & Regulations, each applicant applying for renewal needs to complete six (6) hours of continuing education. One hour of CE is construed to be 50 minutes of learning activity. One hour the licensee must be physically present at the location of the presentation. One hour of CE must cover the topic of ethics.
Q: Can a CE credit hour cover both the in person and ethics requirement?
A: Yes, one CE credit hour may meet both requirements simultaneously.
Q: I know there are some licensees who are exempt from Continuing Education. What are the exemptions?
A: A full list of the exemptions may be found in the Oklahoma Funeral Board Rules & Regulations 235:10-13-12.
Q: Can I come to a board meeting and receive Continuing Education credit?
A: Yes! Attending a board meeting is free and it may count towards the licensees' required one hour of physical presence for presentation. Each 50 minutes attended at a board meeting counts as one hour of CE. Q: How do I track my CE credits?
A: Each licensee shall obtain from the continuing education provider proof of attendance at the approved continuing education program (including name of attendee, provider name and provider number, event number, event date, program title and contact hours attended). The licensee shall also maintain such documentation for a period of not less than two (2) years.
Q: Do you know where I can get my CE hours from this year?
A: 5 can by gained on-line, attend Funeral Board meetings, Contact OFDA, contact your casket or vault company, etc.
Q: I lost my CE program receipts. Can the OFB provide my annual CE renewal records?
A: By filing an open records request, the OFB provides state records. Visit our website and look for the consumer section.
