Provisional Driver License

The State of Oklahoma offers the Provisional Driver License Program
(PDLP), where individuals who have served their period of suspension or
revocation and paid all court costs and fines, but have not paid the required state statutory fees necessary for the reinstatement of driving privileges, have the opportunity to drive in a limited capacity.

Limitations

The PDLP provides opportunities to drive in a limited capacity to and from locations specifically listed below:

  • Driver's place of residence and place of employment or potential employment, during the scope and course of his/her employment
  • Driver's place of residence and a college, university or technology center
  • Driver's place of residence and his/her child's school or day care provider
  • Driver's place of residence and a place of worship
  • Driver's place of residence and a court-ordered treatment program

Note

Time requirements are also established during your appointment with a Hearing Officer.


Eligibility

To apply for this program, you must meet the following requirements:


Full driving privileges

Have met all reinstatement requirements, including paying all court costs and fines and completed any suspension periods.

Current liability insurance

Have current auto liability insurance in his/her name

 




How to Apply

To apply for the PDLP you will:


Prepare the following documents:

  • Primary ID - You can find the list of acceptable proofs of identification documents here.

Meet reinstatement requirements

Ensure that you have served the required time suspension for your reinstatement

Note

Applicants must pay the one-time $25.00 enrollment fee, plus the first minimum monthly payment of $5.00 in person by money order at the time of application. After the initial fee, there is a minimum $5.00 monthly payment that goes towards paying down your outstanding fees.

Obtain a new Driver License

A Provisional Driver License is issued upon approval.

Note

If your Driver License is expired over 3 years, you may be eligible to retest for the drive, written, and vision tests.
