ABLE Tech Loan Program Evaluated
Last fall OSU students enrolled in a Recreation Management/Therapeutic Recreation course conducted a survey of ABLE Tech’s short term device loan recipients, who borrowed directly from ABLE Tech’s Stillwater location. The ABLE Tech team provided the evaluators with a list of e-mail addresses of AT device borrowers from FFY ‘13. With the assistance of the ABLE Tech team, the OSU students created an online survey which was disseminated to 190 individuals who had previously borrowed an AT device; 38 individuals, or 20%, completed the survey.
A brief summary of the ABLE Tech survey concluded the following:
TCC Assisted an Individual to Communicate in the Classroom
This fifteen-year-old was provided a short-term loan of a Sensitrac Wheelchair Mount, which allowed a switch to be secured to her wheelchair. Correct positioning of the switch provided her access to a speech-generating device for communication in her classes! Thanks to the specialists at The Children’s Center and the right assistive technology, this young lady had more opportunities throughout the day to use her communication device to interact with others and participate in activities of daily living.
