The 2nd quarter for FY 2015 has officially ended. Please make sure and complete your loan and demo numbers in NATADS by April 9th. For VS staff that provide demonstration data to me, please get the Excel spreadsheet to me by COB on April 6th. This will ensure all the numbers are up to date for the quarterly reports presented to the ABLE Tech Advisory Council.
Please remember to submit 1st Quarter success stories, which includes a photograph of the individual using AT. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Also, please let me know if you want to attend ABLE Tech’s quarterly Advisory Council meeting on April 22nd at the DRS Office in Oklahoma City at 9:30 a.m. The meetings provide an interesting overview of all ABLE Tech’s programs and services and you get to network with and get to know others from across the state which also share similar AT interests!
The Excel spreadsheet has been updated; please review and let me know if you have questions.
The new version is attached here.
People with Disabilities Awareness Day
Come to the State Capitol on April 20, 2015 to support “Disabled the Label”. To register for the event go to: http://www.okrehab.org/. This event provides a great opportunity to see and learn about programs which serve Oklahomans with disabilities.
VS Assists client with significant vision loss to maintain employment
A Visual Service client from Oklahoma City had a demo of a Video Magnifier, Zoom Text and an Acrobat Reader. These items allow the client to process detailed job forms and other paperwork. With the help of VS and her employer she was able to receive two large monitors, ZoomText software and a video magnifier. “The video magnifier enables me to do processing of the detailed lab forms and other paperwork. This is a necessary part of my job. I really needed to find a full-time job, and I would have had far fewer options without the video magnifier especially. These tools make it possible for me to be able to work.”
The first and only portable read, write and distance video magnifiers with OCR and iPad Connectivity. Connect E-bot to your iPad™ or Android™ tablet, PC or Mac™ to view and interact with your reading, writing or distance image. With the E-bot you can read a book, see the blackboard or take notes in class. Use E-bot ADV to OCR capture the image on the screen, and then listen to it read aloud through built-in speakers or headset.
