Individual Assistance Program
Welcome to Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management’s Individual Assistance/Human Services Program.
Individual Assistance/Human Services program is dedicated to serving individuals and small business owners. OEM-Individual Assistance/Human Services program works directly with OEM Operations and Recovery divisions to ensure all phases of disaster management are unified and serving each Oklahoma community and its citizens.
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management’s Individual Assistance/Human Services mission is to Coordinate, Activate, Respond, and Engage (CARE) while serving the local communities and citizens during a disaster.
COORDINATION: The Individual Assistance/Human Services program coordinates with the Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (OKVOAD), tribal jurisdictions, state and federal agencies to ensure the local communities are served by providing shelter, food, medical, and other needs.
ACTIVATION: Whether working on pre-disaster preparedness, emergency management training, or serving the communities engaged in a disaster from response to recovery, the Individual Assistance program is always active and available to serve the state.
RESPOND: The Individual Assistance/Human Services program defines response as “the collaboration of emergency management professionals, organizations, and tribal jurisdictions focused on an effective and efficient plan toward community rebuilding and sustainability.”
ENGAGE: The Individual Assistance/Human Services program recognizes the significance of being engaged in the all aspects of a disaster (mitigation to recovery), while serving the citizens of Oklahoma.
Disaster Resources and Assistance
Resources are critical during a disaster. Individual Assistance/Human Services rely upon the collaboration of resources made available to the citizens. Below are a few of the partners dedicated to the safety and the protection of Oklahoma citizens during a disaster.
When an emergency event receives a Federal Disaster Declaration, OEM administers the Individual and Households program (IHP), Crisis Counseling grant, Community Services program, Disaster Service Centers and the donation management program for unsolicited donations. Below is a table referencing some of the available programs.
