Architectural License Applications
REMINDER: All Oklahoma licenses - individual and firm - will expire on June 30, 2023. Renewals will open in the License Portal on April 1, 2023.
In order to become a licensed Architect in the state of Oklahoma, you must meet the criteria for education, examination, and experience, which can be found in OAC 55:10-5-7, or meet the requirements for equivalent standards, which can be found in OAC 55:10-5-7.1.
Education: the applicant must have completed a professional degree from an NAAB-accredited university in architecture or an equivalent degree. If an applicant doesn't have a professional degree, or a degree of any kind, licensure is still possible with full-time work experience! See below for details or contact Ellen White at ellen.white@boardofarch.ok.gov.
Examination: the applicant must have passed all sections of the ARE.
Experience: the applicant must have completed the Architectural Experience Program.
*ATTENTION: Initial licensure means that the applicant has not applied for licensure in any other state. If you already have a license in any state, you will be applying for Reciprocal licensure.*
