The Administrative Committee controls the review process for the collection of, disbursement to, and audit of wireless, VoIP, and Pre-paid 9-1-1 fees from vendors to qualifying Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). This includes the setting of requirements for PSAPs annual reporting of financial information, grant administration, as well as supporting efforts to identify and recommend areas where grant funding may be implemented to meet national and State standards of financial prudence and disclosure.
The Technical Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of a plan to introduce Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) services to the State of Oklahoma, including standards for equipment, connectivity, and interoperability with existing technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems and FirstNet wireless systems. This committee will also work to direct grant funding of that will improve aging infrastructure and call-taking capabilities in accordance with national and State standards.
The Operations Committee will recommend best practices for PSAP operations, and encourage standards for all emergency call-takers, thereby improving emergency response capabilities and overall Public Safety to the People of Oklahoma. Additionally, the committee will review options for transitioning PSAPs from antiquated call-taking capabilities into NG911 and recommend possible grant funding where necessary. The committee will focus on operational issues that PSAPs face today and in the future.
