The Ag Products Diversification program is a self-help program implemented to assist alternative crop producers in developing markets for their products. Alternative crops include, but are not limited to fruits, vegetables, kenaf, ratites, deer and other "non-traditional" crops or livestock. In addition to promoting the growing, producing, and marketing of alternative crops, this section organizes marketing outlets, identifies wholesale markets and develops promotional material to assist the producers and marketers.

The Domestic Marketing section of the division works with Oklahoma agri-businesses at local, regional and national
levels. Activities include marketing programs targeted to increase consumer awareness about the availability and quality
of Oklahoma agricultural products. Domestic market development coordinators frequently attend and sponsor various
tradeshows, food shows, and similar functions to promote state products. Promotional methods include cost
share participation at these tradeshows as well as cooperative radio, television, and catalog advertising.

The division's Economic Development program assists existing Oklahoma companies, new formation ventures, communities, and out-of-state interests to expand, build, or relocate to the state of Oklahoma. This includes facilitating site selection, financing, business plan development and market research. The division also assists in the development of state incentive plans and works with the company through regulatory requirements.

The Ag In The Classroom program assist teachers in teaching young children about the importance of agriculture and give them a better understanding of how the food and fiber system affects their lives. Ag In The Classroom curriculum has been developed for grades K-6, and the division conducts teacher training through workshops and in-service programs held at many sites across the state. Lesson plans are available from the website below to assist teachers in Agriculture related studies.
Market Development Services, in conjunction with the Retired Educators for Agricultural Programs (REAP) has developed a partnership to inform less-advantaged minority youth in grades 7-12 about the opportunities offered in the field of agriculture. Market Development staff works with FFA and 4-H instructors in several Oklahoma counties to promote an interest in agricultural-related careers through classroom presentations, seminars, and field trips.
The Department's mission as facilitator of the program state-wide is to work toward the goal of sustainability for Oklahoma agriculture by meeting the identified needs and support the creativity of Oklahoma's underserved farmers and ranchers. Included are on-site demonstrations, workshops, field trips, and speaker presentations on diverse topics with many farmers, ranchers, agencies, academic, non-profit and local partners.

The division's International Marketing section deals primarily with foreign buyers. Our international market development coordinators specialize in assisting both buyers and sellers with information and technical advice when conducting foreign trade. Market development coordinators assist state companies with overcoming trade barriers such as cultural and language differences, governmental trade restrictions and financial limitations. Staff members also work closely with members of the Foreign Agricultural Service and federally funded international marketing projects. Targeted markets include Mexico, Canada, Latin and South America and the Pacific Rim.
