Arts Education in Schools
The
Oklahoma Arts Council supports quality arts education for all K-12
students in every Oklahoma public and private, non-religious school.
The Council provides on-going assistance to non-profit community organizations
with arts education programs that interface with schools. The Council
provides technical expertise and assistance for educational institutions,
arts instructors and non-profit organizations to help in their efforts
to:
- develop fundamental concepts in order to create quality arts education programs
- develop methods of evaluation for arts education programs
- increase access to the Council's programs and services
Recent Model Program
Classroom Chihuly
With a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council, students from Crescent High School art department were provided the opportunity to experience “Classroom Chihuly.” An original program developed by Crescent High School Art Teacher Kristi Lovett Classroom Chihuly allowed students to learn, appreciate and produce glass works of art. NEW - Small Grant Support for Schools
Schools who want to bring the arts into their classrooms have a new funding opportunity from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The Small Grant Support for Schools allows schools to apply for funds directly from the Council and does not require them to work through their district. This grant also requires schools to match only 25% of the total requested amount.
