Chesapeake Energy Corporation to receive Governor's Arts Award

Oklahoma City, OK – Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Oklahoma City, will be honored by Governor Brad Henry at the 32nd Annual Governor’s Arts Awards. Chesapeake will receive the Earl Sneed Memorial Business Award which recognizes businesses and corporations that exhibit outstanding support of the arts in Oklahoma. Accepting the award will be Sr. Vice President for Corporate Development Tom Price.
Sponsored by the Oklahoma Arts Council, 16 individuals and four organizations will be honored for their contributions to the arts in their communities or throughout the state. The ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28th in the 4th Floor Rotunda of the State Capitol and is open to the public. Presiding at the ceremony will be Council Chair Jim Tolbert and Interim Executive Director Suzanne Tate.
Chesapeake is the largest independent producer and third-largest overall producer of natural gas in the United States. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Chesapeake encourages its employees to become involved in community projects. Chesapeake has long been a significant annual contributor to the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, as well as the programs and fundraisers of the Oklahoma City Orchestra League. Each year, employees staff a day of the annual Symphony Show House, a project which raises money benefiting the Philharmonic and its music education programs.
In addition to Chesapeake’s significant support of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, this company is a corporate donor for an impressive list of other arts and cultural activities.
