Our Mission
To lead, cultivate and support a thriving arts environment, which is essential to quality of life, education and economic vitality for all Oklahomans.
What We Do
For more than 40 years, the Oklahoma Arts Council has sustained Oklahoma’s vibrant non-profit arts industry. Since 1965, the Council has played a pivotal role in fostering the arts across the state.
Take a look back at the impact the Oklahoma Arts Council has had on hundreds of arts organizations, artists and the citizens of Oklahoma.
- The Council awards matching grants to
cultural organizations, schools and local governments in order to
increase resources available to non-profit organizations producing
community arts and arts education programs throughout Oklahoma.
- The Council supports opportunities for all Oklahomans to create,
perform or attend arts activities. These opportunities in turn produce
thriving cities and interesting towns and make communities better
places to live.
- The Council raises public awareness about the value of the arts
to the economic, educational, and cultural life of Oklahoma. The
arts produce jobs and attract out-of-state tourists and directly
improve Oklahoma’s economy.
- The Council fosters education through the arts and supports efforts to implement the arts as part of the core curriculum for all students in every Oklahoma school.
The Oklahoma Arts Council would like to thank Edmond, OK artist Leslie Lienau for the use of her landscape pastels on our web site.
