Sheriff Honored

Wagoner County Sheriff, Bob Colbert was honored Wednesday, March 13, 2013, with an award from the Gun Owners of America and presented by organization president, Larry Pratt. Colbert was recognized for his commitment to upholding the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Sheriff Colbert was the first county sheriff in Oklahoma to announce publicly, that should the President issue an executive order which would remove guns from citizens, he would not enforce it. “We took an oath to protect your rights and that's what we're going to do," Colbert said upon accepting the recognition.
Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a non-profit organization formed to advocate for the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. Pratt was in Oklahoma to hear from activists and to encourage legislators to pass several pieces of gun rights legislation.
Pratt was the speaker at the Tulsa County Republican men's club at their monthly luncheon at the Stokely Event Center. The event was attended by a crowd of over 200 supprters including several members of Sheriff Colbert's staff and family and several others from Wagoner County.
