University Hospitals Authority, State Board of Health and State Board of Pharmacy Appointments Made
OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Mary Fallin today announced appointments to the University Hospitals Authority, the State Board of Health and the state Board of Pharmacy. Mike Samis was reappointed to the University Hospitals Authority and Dr. Terry Gerard was appointed to the State Board of Health. Greg Adams and Stephen Dudley were appointed to the Board of Pharmacy.
“Improving the overall health of Oklahomans is an important priority and key to our long-term success as a state,” Fallin said. “These nominees bring with them valuable experience to their respective health-related boards and will serve our state well.”
Samis, Gerard and Adams have been confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate. Dudley’s appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
Mike Samis, University Hospitals Authority
Mike Samis of Oklahoma City owns and operates Samis Investments, which has interests in real estate, oil and gas, manufacturing, health care and entertainment. He is the former president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Macklanburg-Duncan Co. and chairman and CEO of M-D Building Products.
Samis has served on the University Hospitals Authority since 1993 and is the present chairman. He currently serves as the chairman of the investment committee for the University of Oklahoma Foundation, on the board of advisors for the Harold Hamm Oklahoma Diabetes Center and on the board of trustees at the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation.
Samis earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University. He is serving a three-year term.
Dr. Terry Gerard, State Board of Health
Dr. Terry Gerard of Durant is an emergency room physician at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. He previously served as assistant director and emergency room physician at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel.
He is board certified in family medicine and a member of both the American Osteopathic Association and the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association. Gerard earned a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a doctor of osteopathic medicine from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Gerard is replacing Kenneth Miller and will serve a nine-year term.
Greg Adams, Stephen Dudley - Board of Pharmacy
Greg Adams of Clinton is a pharmacist and owner of Salisbury Pharmacy. He previously served as director of clinical services at Pharmacy Providers of OK in Oklahoma City.
He is a member of the Oklahoma Pharmacist Association, the National Community Pharmacist Association and Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma. He also is a member of the Cardinal Health Regional Advisory Board and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. He also serves as president for Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation.
Adams is a member of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and the Clinton Rotary Club.
He earned bachelor’s degrees in both pharmacy and chemistry from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He is replacing Jim Spoon and will serve a five-year term.
Stephen Dudley of Edmond is a senior neurodiagnostic technologist for Medical Neurologist, Inc. and several Oklahoma City-area medical facilities including St. Anthony Hospital, the Oklahoma Medical Center, Mercy Health Center and Integris Baptist Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologists and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists. He is past president of the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.
Dudley earned a degree from the University of Oklahoma.
He is replacing Diane Hampton and will serve a four-year term as a public member, or non-pharmacist, on the board.
