Circle Cinema in Tulsa presents a special screening of Smoke Signals on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. followed by a Q&A with the film’s screenwriter, Sherman Alexie.
Based on Alexie’s short story, “This is What It Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona” from his book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, the film is a humorous yet serious story about two young men, Victor and Thomas, who are quite opposites. Taking a road trip to pay respects to Victor’s father, they learn from one another about the world and themselves.
Smoke Signals boasts an all-Native American production including cast, crew, screenwriter Alexie and director Chris Eyre. Developed at the Sundance Lab in 1995, Smoke Signals won both the Audience Award and the Filmmakers' Trophy at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.
