Meet Treasurer Meacham

Scott Meacham is the 17th State Treasurer of Oklahoma, elected by the voters to a full, four-year term on November 7, 2006, after being appointed by Governor Henry on June 1, 2005.

Prior to becoming treasurer, Meacham served as Director of State Finance. He continues to serve on the governor's cabinet as Secretary for Finance and Revenue.

As cabinet secretary, chief negotiator and policy advisor to Governor Henry, Meacham helps write the state budget each year. Meacham's negotiations have resulted in historic tax cuts for Oklahoma families and historic investments in education, health care, public safety and job creation.

Meacham has directed modernization of the state's investment portfolio and has tripled state investment income while minimizing risk to the state's investments.

Due to Meacham's renegotiation of contracts for state financial services, the state is saving millions of dollars each year.

Meacham, a certified financial planner, formerly served as Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank & Trust of Elk City. Under his leadership, the bank more than doubled in size and saw its profits increase by more than 150 percent.

Meacham is a fifth generation Oklahoman and a graduate of Chickasha High School and the University of Oklahoma. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance, a Masters of Business Administration and a law degree.

Meacham, his wife, Susan, and their four children, Trevor, Evan, Kady and Lucas, make their home in Edmond. They attend Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City.
