The Challenges...

Some people may think they are too old to be active or too young to worry about being active.  Others may think physical activity has to be competitive or a challenge.  Just remember that physical activity should be fun at any age.  Click here to find out more about physical activity.

Another challenge to being physically active is spending too much time watching TV, using the computer, and talking or texting on cell phones.  This is referred to as screen time.  


Move More, Watch Less
The more time children spend watch television, the greater their risk of becoming overweight.  This is likely due to the displacement of physical activity and increased caloric intake resulting from greater snacking opportunities and poorer food choices.

What can you do?  Start looking at the amount of screen-time that you and your family get in an average day and finding ways to reduce that time and increase your physical activity.  It's a lot easier than you think, and the toolkit below can help you get started.
